Your First Step to a Professional Cake Decorating Career

Are you dreaming of making beautiful cakes for your loved ones or starting a successful cake business? This comprehensive course is just what you need! It combines basic techniques, creative styling, and professional business tips to help you succeed. You’ll learn essential skills, such as pricing strategies, business basics, and industry requirements. 

Course Structure

The course is divided into three modules:

  1. Sugarpaste

  2. Sugar Flowers

  3. Royal Icing & Piping

 

Each part requires a minimum of 25 hours of study time. Upon completing each module and meeting the required standards, you will be awarded a Diploma issued by PME UK.

 

You can begin the course with any module, in any order, without following a specific sequence or priority. You are free to enrol in just the module that interests you or complete multiple modules. However, if you wish to apply for the Masters Certificate issued by PME UK, you must successfully complete all three modules.

This PME-approved module focuses on professional sugarpaste (fondant) and marzipan covering, multi-tier structural support, and sculpted bridal and novelty cake design.🎂

 

Through hands-on practice with both a real cake and a dummy cake, students quickly build confidence in their covering, carving, and decorating skills, making the course suitable for both beginners and more experienced decorators.✨

 

Course Content
✅ Learn essential and advanced techniques for coating cakes with marzipan and sugarpaste.
✅ Practise carving and shaping a bride cake and covering irregular or 3D sculpted cake designs.
✅ Understand how to design and install safe, stable internal support for multi-tiered cakes.
✅ Create a range of sugarpaste finishes, including metallic crackle, marble effects, carving and 3D decorations.
✅ Use tools such as modelling tools, embossing stamps, frilling tools and moulds to make lace, ruffles, drapes, ribbon roses, bows and decorative flowers.
✅ Complete one real cake and one dummy cake during the course, and take both creations home.🎁

This is a PME-approved module that teaches the creation of classic sugar flowers such as Peony, Garden Rose, Dahlia, Rose, Lily, Carnation, Freesia, Lily of the Valley, Cattleya Orchid, Sweet Pea, and foliage.

Step-by-step instruction covers unwired and wired sugar flower and leaf making techniques, flower paste (gum paste) handling, and flower colouring. Students gain comprehensive skills in shaping and arranging sugar flowers, suitable for all levels.✨

Course Content
✅ Making a variety of classic sugar flowers and foliage.
✅ Techniques for both unwired and wired sugar flowers and leaves.
✅ Handling flower paste (gum paste) for shaping sugar flowers.
✅ Flower colouring and detailing techniques.
✅ Sugar flower shaping and arranging art.
✅ The finished piece is shaped like a bouquet arranged in a vase, which you can take home. 🎁

This PME-approved module teaches various royal icing piping and decorating skills, including using different nozzles to pipe flowers, leaves, 3D chapel, and icing cookies. Learn advanced piping techniques such as over-piping, pressure-piping, and string work, and master brush embroidery and stencil applications.

 

The course covers piping techniques for roses, blossoms, runout motifs, panels, collars, soft royal icing making and beating, and royal icing cake coating skills, suitable for all levels.✨

 

Course Content
✅ Use different nozzles for a variety of decorations like flowers, leaves, 3D chapel, and icing cookies.
✅ Master over-piping, pressure-piping, and string work techniques.
✅ Brush embroidery and stencil application techniques.
✅ Piping techniques such as rose and blossom flowers.
✅ Runout motifs, panels, and collars creation using soft royal icing.
✅ Techniques for mixing and beating royal icing.
✅ Skills for coating cakes with royal icing.
✅ Complete one multi-tiered dummy cake and five royal icing cookies, which you can take home.🎁
